Would The Tin Man Have Installed A Metal Roof If He Owned A Home In New York?

The fictional Tin Man character from the Wizard of Oz may not have had a heart, but he could have owned a home in New York, and my guess is that if he did, he would have had a metal roof.

As a character who himself was made of metal, he would have understood firsthand about the many benefits of the material. It goes without saying, perhaps, that the one most prized by him would have been longevity. Metal roofing has an average lifespan of approximately 50 years, and if installed properly and with regular maintenance, it can be extended to upwards of 70 years or longer. This may fall slightly short of the average person’s lifespan, but as far as the tin man would have been concerned, this would have been prospectively much longer than his “straw strung” ally, Scarecrow.

The Tin Man also would have been in favor of the high resilience to the winter elements. High winds and hail are rarely an issue with a metal roof, and snow, ice and water simply slide off which makes ongoing maintenance less costly than some other roofing materials.

He also would have considered the resistance against fires, given that a lightning strike or some other exposure to an open flame will not ignite a roof constructed of this material further reducing the chances of an unthinkable disaster. No doubt that his pal, the Cowardly Lion, would have appreciated such a feature if ever he stomped in for a visit.

Additionally I think it’s safe to say that the Tin Man would have been all over the idea that his metal roof could be saving him as much as 25% or more in energy costs; in winter as well as during the summer. Certainly, savings as much as that multiplied over the course of 50 to 70 years would ensure that the Tin Man would be “well oiled” come time for retirement.

The topic of recycling may have been a bit more of a touchy subject which the Tin Man may not have wanted to think about so much, after all…he himself was made of metal. None-the-less, if he were married and had a few “kin in the can” (sort of speak), there’s no doubt that he might be thinking about the sustainable earth-friendly benefits of a metal roof. With a Metal Roofing Material is Recyclable , it’s possible he would have felt a greater sense of security about his and Tiny Tin’s environmental future, by having the roofing material installed onto his New York home.

Of course, the Tin Man’s son, being a young tin, would have been more focused on the more “materialistic” (excuse the pun), aesthetically pleasing presentation of quality and stature that a well installed metal roof would have given to their New York home. It is likely that the Tin Man also would have considered this as well, especially where as it pertained to his home’s resale value should the time come to sell. And if it just so happened that there was no Tiny Tin, and the Tin Man was, in fact, single…then undoubtedly, he might have considered the impression that this stunning presentation of his home could make if by chance a small-town girl from Kansas happened to unexpectedly fly in (Just as all the references in this post kept flying in). 😉

The Tin Man clearly would have had many reasons for choosing to have a metal roof installed if he was the owner of a New York home. For those same reasons, this material when installed properly would be just as appropriate for other homeowners. A reputable, experienced roofing contractor will be happy to help you decide about the best available options that will keep you feeling like there is no place like home.

In White Plains, NY , a significant trend in home construction involves renovations and remodeling. This area’s homeowners often focus on upgrading kitchens and bathrooms, which are seen as valuable investments. For instance, a kitchen remodel can yield a return on investment (ROI) of 54% to 80%, according to the National Association of Realtors. Bathroom renovations are similarly lucrative, with an average ROI of around 70%. Basement finishing and room additions also offer substantial benefits, both in terms of functionality and property value. These projects can range from $10,000 to over $100,000, depending on the scale and materials used. For homeowners, understanding the balance between their needs, the cost involved, and the potential increase in property value is critical.

In the heart of the culinary haven somewhere in Westchester NY, Bob and Alice, a delightful couple with a knack for whipping up scrumptious meals and hearty laughter, found joy in their cozy little kitchen. It was a space where love simmered, friendships brewed, and memories were baked to perfection. However, the years had not been kind to their beloved kitchen. Stains, creaks, and the whimsical temperament of an old oven signaled that it was time for a makeover.
